Amcrest ASH26

The main obstacle for a security camera to get a good image detail at night or when lighting condition is very low is how to add light around the frame so that your camera can record objects in more detail, if necessary recorded with color night vision. The first generation of Amcrest ip security camera with light addition is Amcrest ACD2W outdoor security camera with spotlights. Today, Amcrest introduces new model of security camera with light addition – the Amcrest ASH26 outdoor security camera with floodlight. See also Hikvision vs Dahua color night vision camera.

Full HD @30 fps

Amcrest acd2w and its newer model Amcrest ash26 are both embedded with ½.7” 2MP image sensor with resolution up to 1080p @30 fps, real time frame rate.

The main difference between the two Amcrest models is the additional light on each of the camera, with Amcrest ACD2W is equipped with a spotlight; the Amcrest Ash26 is equipped with two floodlights. Both camera models are designed with the same resolution of 1080p @ 30 fps. You can compare with Arlo Pro 3 floodlight which comes with higher resolution, 2K (2560×1440) twice as high resolution as Ash26. Have no idea what the frame rate is, typically wire-free camera with battery powered come @15fps to save the power. Amcrest ash26 is not a wire-free camera, but plug-in to 110~240V AC power so delivering frame rate @30 fps is possible.

Amcrest ASH26 with 48pcs LEDs floodlight

Amcrest ASH26 is equipped with two panels of LED arrays, where each panel has six groups of LED arrays; each array consists of 4 LEDs. So these two floodlight panels contain two times of 24pcs LEDs, so there are a total of 48pcs LEDs in ASH26 security camera delivering up to 2,000 lumens light with 3000K light temperature. This bright 2,000lm light can illuminate surrounding of your property to help your camera to receive enough light to produce color night vision.

If you compare it with Arlo Floodlight, Arlo is equipped with a floodlight design that blends with the camera module in the middle and provides the same light of 2,000lm. However, when you add optional Arlo outdoor magnetic charging can provide 50% brighter light up to 3,000lm.

With Ash26 you have 3 option modes the way the camera works with the floodlight:

The first option is automatic mode. When night falls, the floodlights will automatically ON until the daylight comes and the camera provides color night vision. The second option is manual by turning floodlight On/ Off, if there is enough ambient light up to around 0.03Lux then the camera can still provide color night vision, and if it drops to 0.15Lux then it changes to B / W night vision with 1x IR LED. And the third option is motion-activated mode, when there is motion detection the floodlight is on and you can also trigger sirens via your mobile device if necessary to deter the evil intentions of uninvited guests.

Unlike Amcrest floodlight with three modes, Arlo is designed with two modes, motion-detection and manual On / Off, but under normal circumstances Arlo provides B / W night vision with two high power IR LEDs.  When you turn on floodlight manually, floodlight will stay On for up to 20 minutes by default (you can customize via the app) if you don’t turn it off manually.
