Amcrest vs Hikvision 32 Channel NVR System

Take one of newly launched product offered by Amcrest –the Amcrest NV432E-HS that comes with 16pcs Amcrest IP8M-2493E outdoor POE 4k security cameras and compared with Hikvision DS-7616NI-K2/16P NVR system plus 12pcs DS-2CD2143GO-I outdoor dome model cameras.

Both NVR systems support 4k recording resolution, but the included cameras are different. Amcrest with 4k cameras while Hikvision is 4mp cameras. Hikvision with 16 channel and 12pcs 2k (4mp) cameras, you still have 4 available POE ports to allow add more 4k resolution cameras such as Hikvision DS-2CD2185fwd-I 4k dome camera.

NVR systems

The good thing with IP camera and the network video recorder unit is that you can use existing computer network together with surveillance system, you can connect the camera to any port of the network switch (with POE injector) or direct connect to the built-in POE switch embedded with the NVR unit.

#Channel

Number of channel the NVR unit can support is essential for future expansion.  32 channel NVR system is preference than 8 0r 16 channel should you require more channel in line with expanding your business requirement in the future. With 8 camera security system having 16 channel NVR system is more advantage than 8 channel system. Hikvision DS-7616 is a 16 channel system with maximum bandwidth 160Mbps, while NV4432E-HS is a 32 channel system with bandwidth 200Mbps recording resolution @32 channel.

Storage

See that Hikvision 7616 supports up to 4x SATA ports with maximum capacity 6TB each HDD for total 12TB, large enough for 16 channel 4k video resolution. Amcrest NV4432 is a 32 channel system with maximum 24TB.

Both Amcrest and Hikvision NVR systems here support latest compression format technology H.265 which is 60% more efficient than H.264 format, thus more storage space to save for those connected cameras with H.265 supports.

Remote view

Most surveillance vendors apply their products capability of being viewed remotely via internet and QR Code scan is feature for easily viewed remotely using your mobile devices. P2P technology is an easy feature to configure remote viewing and QR code scan is part of its feature. no complication of configuring your home’s router something like port forwarding etc.

Amcrest offers preinstalled 6TB HDD but Hikvision doesn’t, so you need to add SATA disk for Hikvision around $225 for the same 6TB HDD.

Cameras

All the included cameras are POE cameras with solid weatherproof housing, ideal for outdoor usage and indoor usage off course.

Recording resolution

Amcrest IP8M-2493 delivers high resolution recording up to 8 megapixel or 4K resolution @15 fps, 4 times as high resolution as 1080p camera. On the other hand Hikvision DS-2CD2143GO-I supports up to 4mp @30 fps real time speed.

Lens

Amcrest IP8m-2493 is built up using fixed lens featuring intelligent digital zoom, providing range of 69~112 degree field of view angle. On the other hand, Hikvision DS-2CD2143GO-I offers 2 fixed len options: 2.8 mm (103 degree FOV); and 4 mm (79 degree). in this surveillance kit, Hikvision offers 2.8 mm lens with 103 degree field of view angle.

Amcrest is digitally zoomed not like those cameras with optical zoom lens which is much better and sharper result.

Housing

Both Amcrest and Hikvision cameras are designed with IP67 rated weatherproof metal housing construction and Amcrest offers IK10 vandal resistant for impact proof.

Other features

The other features are almost similar including night vision, compression format, memory storage micro SD card and more.

The motion alerts Hikvision offers richer features including line crossing, face recognition, unattended baggage, object removal from pre-defined region etc.

Amcrest offers pre-installed 6TB, but Hikvision doesn’t so you still to add  the HDD for video storage. And to add the same 6TB HDD you need to pay around $245. And to add another 4-cameras for Hikvision you need to pay around $704 so total price for Hikvision 16 channel with 16 2k resolution cameras and HDD is around $2,403.99.

However, if you replace all the 2k cameras with 4k cameras (Hikvision 2CD2385FWD-I 2.8mm OEM) which is tagged with the price around $149.99 each unit, and when you require 16pcs you need to pay around $2,399.84 just for cameras. The Hikvision 7616 is around $300 plus $245 HDD for total around $2,944.0
