eufy doorbell dual camera

Eufy doorbell camera is beginning to be popular and gradually taking the market share of doorbell cameras and floodlight cameras which have been dominated by big players Arlo and Ring. How does eufy doorbell camera compete with Arlo and Ring, which of these three products provides the best value for your money?

One thing that gives added value to the eufy doorbell camera is local storage which does not require you to subscribe to cloud storage like most other doorbells such as Arlo and Ring. Once purchased, you no longer need to subscribe to cloud storage service or other service plan, so you immediately get the benefits offered by Eufy Doorbell forever.

So far the latest products offered by Eufy are eufy 2k battery power and eufy wired doorbell. And in 2022, the latest model is eufy dual lens doorbell camera. There are some enhancement features, much better ones as opposed with the previous products.

Eufy battery vs eufy wired

The following table 1 is spec comparison between two models of eufy doorbell series, the battery power and the wired model. Both models are the previous versions, and the newer dual lens doorbell camera will be shown later.

Both series come with double resolution as most camera doorbells available in the market today. This 2k resolution is one of the features that makes the Eufy doorbell superior to other models that still use 1080p camera. Both models are designed with landscape orientation and 4:3 aspect ratio for wider view angle like the ones offered by Google Nest doorbell. See also Nest doorbell vs Arlo doorbell.

Besides that, the feature that can detect body and face is another advantage as opposed to other models that only support motion detection; no matter people or animal that may cause false alerts.

Is the 2k resolution superior as a whole as opposed to other doorbells that only come with a 1080p camera like arlo and ring? Not necessarily, there are still many factors that need to be taken into account in determining which one provides the best value for your business.

Eufy wired doorbell
Eufy wired doorbell

Eufy with dual camera consists of one front camera like normally video camera doorbell with 2k resolution and wide 120 degree view angle, plus package camera with 1080p resolution and 97 degree view angle.

Power source

The main difference between these two series is the power source, either ac wiring network or battery power. For those of you who don’t have an existing wired doorbell, it’s a good idea to choose battery powered doorbell. On the home base, there is a speaker that can function as chime replacement. Eufy with battery power model can last around 3 months, and then you can recharge it.

Both models give you local storage solution, no cloud storage plan. The battery power model you have storage option in the home base up to 16GB capacity, while the wired model comes with built-in on board 4GB memory.

With this local memory storage, you can access your video footage from anywhere securely with high grade 256-bit security encryption.

On the wired model, the storage capacity is only 4GB on the doorbell as opposed to 16GB on homebase of the battery model doorbell. However, on eufy wired doorbell there is a 3-second pre-buffer video that is sent before the alert triggered, but not on a eufy doorbell battery.

What if the storage is full already? No problem, the new video footage will overwrite the oldest ones.

See the following table 1 below for detail comparison.

How this eufy battery power doorbell will compete with most popular Arlo and Ring doorbell?

What about the dual camera version?

The above spec and features comparison table compares the previous version of battery power and the wired power of eufy doorbell camera. In 2022 eufy released its latest doorbell camera with dual camera. One camera is installed facing the front with 2k resolution and the second one is package camera, it is not facing straight forward like the first one, however it is slightly angled towards the bottom of the floor so that it can detect packages that are placed on the floor in front of the door.

Eufy vs Arlo vs Ring Doorbell

To get better insight of these three doorbell camera products, we present two comparison tables below. Table 2 shows specs and features comparison for eufy vs Arlo doorbell, while table 3 shows specs and features comparison for eufy vs ring doorbell.

Camera specs

Eufy doorbell camera comes with 4MP Sony CMOS image sensor, the maximum video resolution is 4MP double resolution as opposed to Arlo and Ring. Moreover, eufy comes with dual camera instead of one front camera like on arlo and ring. See also Amcrest doorbell vs Arlo.

Eufy camera provides landscape orientation video with 4:3 aspect ratio to ensure the camera can cover the left and right sides of the person standing in front of the door. Compared to Arlo and Ring, both use 1:1 aspect ratio design so that they can fully cover from toe to head as well as left and right sides, although with a slightly curved effect like digital camera view with a fish eye lens. The good thing with all the three products is HDR feature (digital version of WDR) to challenge both bright and shade light conditions exist in the frame. On the other hand eufy uses its second camera to detect package placed on the floor.

Many people prefer camera with higher resolution, and so do I. With higher camera resolution, the image quality is still good and sharp when you zoom in via your mobile device with the app.

Event trigger

Mostly all video camera doorbells, they provide almost the same features like security cameras in general that support motion detection within customized zone detection. Eufy provides an ingenious feature to detect people or faces with AI technology to trigger alerts sent to your Smartphone. So it’s not just an alert due to motion detection in general, thus reduces false alerts. In addition of its second camera, it is specifically used to detect the packages.

Ring Pro 2 doorbell
Ring Pro 2 doorbell

On the other hand, Arlo provides even more ingenious features. Arlo can track and zoom in automatically when it detects people’s movements. Ring pro 2 sends snapshot alerts in 3D view with the inclusion of a bird’s eye view within the frame.

In addition to live view, the security camera provides the option to playback video footage that is stored in a certain memory storage, either in the camera or in cloud storage. Eufy provides local storage on the camera (4GB) for the wired model, while the battery model storage is in its homebase with 16GB memory capacity. No need to subscribe the cloud storage option because you can access saved videos directly from local storage.

Arlo and Ring camera doorbells are different, they provide paid cloud storage plan option, even without a subscription you can still live view and receive snapshot alerts when there is an alert triggered. To be able to playback past events recorded by the camera, you need a cloud storage service which also includes other features.

Eufy with local storage is a good solution without having to subscribe to cloud storage. Table 2 shows you arlo vs eufy doorbell, you can read more details below.

Wifi connectivity

The quality of wifi connectivity between the doorbell and the wifi network also depends on built-in wifi adapter on the doorbell. Eufy and Arlo use wifi standard b/g/n @2.4GHz radio band. While Ring uses the built-in dual band wifi ac. On the wifi router ac and the latest wifi 6 generally comes with smart connect feature that steer the connected devices (that support 5GHz) to the 5ghz radio band. This 5GHz radio band is relatively cleaner than 2.4GHz band which is prone to signal interference.

Ring doorbell is more advantage regarding wifi speed connectivity.
