Eufy Doorbell Camera vs Arlo vs Ring Which One is Best Value (2023 version)

Eufy is a smart home security company that offers a range of products, including two series of video doorbells, the eufy wired doorbell and eufy battery doorbell. Both series offer features such as 2k video quality, two-way audio, and motion detection with custom activity zones.

Eufy Doorbell Camera

One of the standout features of the Eufy doorbells is their local storage option. Unlike some of their competitors, Eufy allows you to store your video footage locally on an included 16GB microSD card, so you don’t have to pay for cloud storage subscriptions.

When comparing the Eufy doorbells to popular options like Ring and Arlo, one notable advantage is their lower price point. The Eufy Doorbell is available for around $100 less than the comparable Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Additionally, Eufy offers a wider field of view than the Arlo Video Doorbell, which can help to capture more of your doorstep.

However, there are some areas where Eufy falls short. For example, the Eufy doorbells do not offer advanced features like facial recognition or a color night vision mode. Additionally, the Eufy doorbells do not have as many integration with other smart home systems as some of their competitors.

If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable video doorbell with local storage options, the Eufy doorbells may be a good choice, one of best doorbell camera without subscription due to its local memory storage. However, if you need more advanced features or integrations with other smart home systems, you may want to consider other options.

So far the latest products offered by Eufy are eufy battery doorbell and eufy wired doorbell. And in 2022, the latest model is eufy dual lens doorbell camera. There are some enhancement features, much better ones as opposed with the previous products.

Eufy battery doorbell vs eufy wired doorbell

Table 1 provides a detailed comparison of two Eufy doorbell models: the battery-powered and the wired model. Although both models are previous versions, a newer dual-lens doorbell camera will be featured later.

Notably, both Eufy series boast a double resolution, which sets them apart from most camera doorbells currently available in the market. With 2k resolution, Eufy doorbells offer superior video quality compared to other models that still use 1080p cameras. The landscape orientation and 4:3 aspect ratio of both models also provide a wider viewing angle, similar to the Google Nest doorbell. See also Nest doorbell vs Arlo doorbell.

Furthermore, Eufy’s advanced detection feature can identify body and face, making it a better option than models that only support motion detection, which can trigger false alerts caused by animals or other non-human objects.

While 2k resolution in Eufy doorbells is undoubtedly superior to doorbells with 1080p cameras like Arlo and Ring, it’s important to consider multiple factors before deciding which one provides the best value for your business.

Eufy wired doorbell
Eufy wired doorbell

Eufy’s dual-camera doorbell series includes a front camera with 2k resolution and a wide 120-degree view angle, along with a package camera featuring 1080p resolution and a 97-degree view angle. This configuration offers a comprehensive view of the surroundings and makes Eufy doorbells a great option for enhancing home security.

Power source

The primary difference between the two Eufy series is their power source: either AC wiring or battery power. If you don’t have an existing wired doorbell, the battery-powered option is a good choice. The home base has a speaker that can function as a chime replacement, and the battery-powered Eufy model can last up to 3 months before needing a recharge. Overall, Eufy doorbells provide an easy-to-use and reliable solution for keeping your home secure.

Storage

Both Eufy doorbell models offer a local storage solution, eliminating the need for a cloud storage plan. The battery-powered model offers storage options of up to 16GB capacity in the home base, while the wired model comes with built-in onboard 4GB memory.

With the local memory storage, you can securely access your video footage from anywhere, thanks to the high-grade 256-bit security encryption. However, there is a slight difference in the storage capacity between the two models. While the eufy battery doorbell has 16GB storage on the home base, the wired model only has 4GB on the doorbell. However, the Eufy wired doorbell has a 3-second pre-buffer video that is sent before the alert is triggered, which is not available on the Eufy doorbell battery.

If the storage is full, there’s no need to worry as the new footage will overwrite the oldest one. Overall, Eufy doorbells provide a reliable and secure local storage solution that can be accessed from anywhere.

How this eufy battery power doorbell will compete with most popular Arlo and Ring doorbell?

What about the dual camera version?

The table above compares the specifications and features of the previous versions of the Eufy doorbell camera, including the battery-powered and wired models. However, in 2022, Eufy released its latest doorbell camera, featuring dual cameras. One camera is installed facing the front, providing 2k resolution, while the second camera, also known as the package camera, is angled slightly towards the floor to detect packages placed in front of the door.

The dual camera features:
  • The front camera: 2k resolution (2560 x 1920), 160 degree wide view angle
  • The package camera: full HD 1080p (1600 x 1200), 97 degree view angle
  • Smart AI features: Package detection; facial detection; human detection.

On the following paragraphs I will use this new dual camera version of eufy doorbell camera to compare with arlo and ring.

Eufy vs Arlo vs Ring Doorbell

Arlo, Ring, and Eufy are among the leading manufacturers of smart doorbell cameras, providing users with the ability to monitor their front doors from anywhere in the world using their smartphones or other connected devices.

Arlo essential doorbell

When comparing these brands, Eufy doorbell stands out for its dual-camera design and local storage option, which allows users to store recorded footage directly on the camera or the home base without requiring a cloud storage subscription. Eufy also uses AI technology to detect people or faces and reduce false alerts, and it has a second camera specifically used to detect packages placed on the floor.

Ring, on the other hand, offers a 3D Motion Detection feature with Bird’s Eye View that allows users to see a top-down view of the motion detected by the camera, making it easier to identify what triggered the alert. Ring also provides users with a wide range of cloud storage options for storing recorded footage, and it uses a dual-band Wi-Fi connection that provides faster and more reliable connectivity.

Arlo offers many of the same features as Ring, including cloud storage options and advanced motion detection, but it is also known for its long-lasting battery life and compatibility with other Arlo devices. Arlo’s doorbell camera uses HDR technology to improve image quality and reduce glare, and it can track and zoom in automatically when it detects people’s movements.

Each of these brands offers unique features and advantages that cater to different users’ needs and preferences. When choosing a doorbell camera, it’s important to consider factors such as storage options, connectivity, and advanced features like motion detection and AI technology.

To provide a better understanding of the differences between these three doorbell camera products, we have included two comparison tables below. Table 2 displays a spec and feature comparison between Arlo and eufy doorbells, while Table 3 compares eufy and Ring doorbells.

Camera specs

Eufy’s doorbell camera boasts a 4MP Sony CMOS image sensor, providing a maximum video resolution of 4MP, which is double the resolution of Arlo and Ring. Additionally, eufy’s dual camera setup distinguishes it from Arlo and Ring’s single front camera. See also Amcrest doorbell vs Arlo.

Eufy’s camera utilizes a landscape orientation video with a 4:3 aspect ratio to ensure complete coverage of the left and right sides of the person standing in front of the door. Arlo and Ring use a 1:1 aspect ratio design to capture the entire person from toe to head, as well as the left and right sides, with a slightly curved effect resembling a digital camera with a fish-eye lens. All three products have an HDR feature to handle both bright and shaded light conditions in the frame. However, eufy’s second camera is used to detect packages placed on the floor.

Many people prefer camera with higher resolution, and so do I. With higher camera resolution, the image quality is still good and sharp when you zoom in via your mobile device with the app.

Event trigger

Most video camera doorbells offer similar features such as motion detection within a customizable zone. However, Eufy stands out with its AI technology that can detect people or faces, reducing false alerts. Additionally, Eufy’s second camera is specifically designed to detect packages. In terms of event trigger, eufy vs ring doorbell, Ring Pro 2 provides snapshot alerts in a 3D view with a bird’s eye view included in the frame.

Ring Pro 2 doorbell
Ring Pro 2 doorbell

The Ring doorbell’s 3D Motion Detection with Bird’s Eye View feature uses advanced technology to track and capture the movement of people and objects around your property. The doorbell’s camera captures footage and creates a 3D image of the surrounding area. The Bird’s Eye View feature then uses this image to give you a top-down view of the detected motion, allowing you to see the path of the movement and the location of any objects or people involved. This feature provides a more comprehensive view of the area and can be particularly useful in identifying any potential threats or suspicious activity. Additionally, the feature sends snapshot alerts of the detected motion to your smartphone, allowing you to quickly and easily monitor your property even when you’re away.

What about arlo vs eufy doorbell? Arlo, on the other hand, offers even more advanced features. It can automatically track and zoom in on people’s movements.

Storage

In addition to live view, security cameras offer the option to play back stored video footage from either local or cloud storage. Eufy doorbell provides local storage for the wired model (4GB) and for eufy battery doorbell model, storage is in the homebase with a 16GB memory capacity. This eliminates the need for a cloud storage subscription because saved videos can be accessed directly from local storage.

On the other hand, Arlo and Ring doorbell cameras offer a paid cloud storage plan option. Even without a subscription, users can still access live view and receive snapshot alerts when an alert is triggered. However, to access past recorded events, a cloud storage service subscription is required along with additional features.

Eufy’s local storage option is a good solution for those who don’t want to subscribe to cloud storage. Table 2 provides a detailed comparison of Arlo vs Eufy doorbell.

Wifi connectivity

The strength of the wifi connection between the doorbell and the wifi network is influenced by the built-in wifi adapter on the doorbell. Eufy and Arlo utilize the wifi standard b/g/n @2.4GHz radio band, whereas Ring employs the built-in dual band wifi ac. The wifi router ac and the latest wifi 6 such as Google nest pro and deco generally come with a smart connect feature that steers the connected devices (that support 5GHz) to the 5GHz radio band. This 5GHz radio band is relatively cleaner than the 2.4GHz band, which is susceptible to signal interference.

Ring doorbell has the upper hand in terms of wifi speed connectivity. Refer to Table 3 below for a comparison between eufy and ring doorbells. Table 3 below shows you eufy vs ring doorbell comparison.
