Dahua offers two models with different focal lengths of each of the thermal and visual cameras as shown in the lens table. Hikvision offers one focal length either the thermal camera or the optical camera, no option for focal lengths.

Each of cameras comes with different types of WDR (wide dynamic range) technology.

Wide dynamic range (WDR) is used to compensate the image due to two conditions between the dark shade and excessive light in one image so that if there is no compensation there will be too dark image at the shade side, or too bright image at the excessive light side.

In camera industry, there are two models of WDR – the true WDR and DWDR (digital WDR). The true WDR is the optical WDR and combined with digital improvement. On the other hand, the cameras with DWDR only rely on software processing for dynamic range compensation inside the camera.

Which one is better? Of course true WDR provides better image results which relies on optical mechanical compensation and is enriched with software. Dahua TPC-BF2221 thermal body temperature camera comes with DWDR, while Hikvision Ds-2td2617b-6/Pa comes with 120dB WDR.

Smart features

Another advantage of Hikvision thermal body camera is the smart feature of face detection and face mask detection up to 30 faces at the same time. With face mask detection feature Hikvision detects up to 30 individuals without mask at a time.
