Camera detail

The Reolink floodlight camera and the Arlo floodlight camera have notable differences in their resolution and field of view, which can impact their overall performance and user experience:

Reolink Floodlight Camera boasts an impressive 4K resolution, providing ultra-high-definition video quality. This level of resolution delivers sharp and detailed footage, enabling users to see more distinct features and capture critical details such as facial expressions or license plate numbers. Arlo only offers 2k resolution, while still providing clear video quality, the 2K resolution might not offer the same level of sharpness and detail as the 4K option.

Field of View:

Reolink Floodlight Camera is equipped with a dual lens, covers a wide 180-degree area. This means it can capture a broader view, reducing blind spots and ensuring more comprehensive surveillance coverage. The dual lens allows for a larger viewing angle without sacrificing video quality.

Arlo Floodlight Camera on the other hand, comes with single lens offering a 160-degree diagonal view angle, covers a slightly smaller area compared to the Reolink camera. This may result in the need for additional cameras to cover the same expansive area effectively.

If you require higher video resolution and a wider field of view for enhanced surveillance coverage, the Reolink floodlight camera with its 4K resolution and 180-degree coverage may be the better option.

Power

The power options of the Reolink Floodlight Camera and the Arlo Floodlight Camera have distinct characteristics, which can impact convenience, maintenance, and operational considerations:

Reolink Floodlight Camera with POE model as one of its power options allows the camera to be powered and receive data over a single Ethernet cable. This means there is no need for a separate power adapter or a rechargeable battery to operate the camera.

The Reolink Floodlight Camera offers Power over Ethernet (PoE) as one of its power options. PoE allows the camera to be powered and receive data over a single Ethernet cable. This means there is no need for a separate power adapter or a rechargeable battery to operate the camera, ideal for more permanent installation, as it eliminates the need to periodically recharge or replace batteries.

Arlo Floodlight Camera with rechargeable battery relies on a rechargeable battery as its power source. This means the camera operates on battery power, and it needs to be recharged when the battery runs low.

Rechargeable batteries provide flexibility in camera placement as they eliminate the need for wired connections. This allows users to install the camera in various locations without being restricted by power outlets or cables. However, the need to recharge batteries periodically can be a consideration for users who prefer a low-maintenance solution.

The PoE option of the Reolink Floodlight Camera offers continuous power without the need for battery management, making it suitable for long-term and fixed installations. On the other hand, the rechargeable battery option of the Arlo Floodlight Camera provides flexibility and portability, making it ideal for temporary or mobile installations where wired connections are not feasible.

Local memory

The difference between the storage options of Reolink and Arlo Floodlight Cameras lies in how they handle video footage storage.

Reolink Floodlight Camera comes equipped with a micro SD card slot that supports memory cards with capacities of up to 256GB. With local storage, the camera records and stores video footage directly onto the inserted micro SD card. This means all recorded videos are stored within the camera itself, eliminating the need for cloud storage subscriptions. This is a cost-effective solution for storage, and no need to stored data externally that is prone to data privacy and security compromised.

Arlo with cloud storage is part of Arlo secure plan, unless you can only receive alerts notifications in case of motion detection, and live view.  Arlo offers various cloud storage subscription plans with different storage capacities and features. Users need to subscribe to one of these plans to access video footage beyond a certain limit.

Thanks to arlo secure plan so you can access the footage from anywhere as long as you can access the internet, and this cloud storage functions as backup.

Reolink’s local micro SD card storage offers a more cost-effective and private solution for storing video footage directly on the camera itself. On the other hand, Arlo’s cloud storage provides remote access and redundancy, but it comes with the requirement of a subscription plan, which may incur additional costs over time.

Smart motion detection

The Reolink floodlight camera and the Arlo floodlight camera with its Arlo Secure plan both offer smart motion detection capabilities, but they differ in some key aspects:

Smart Detection Categories:

Both cameras provide smart motion detection, but the difference lies in the specific categories they can detect. Reolink floodlight camera boasts human, vehicle, and pet smart motion detection, ensuring a comprehensive approach to identifying relevant activities around your property. On the other hand, the Arlo floodlight cameras can have similar human, vehicle, and pet smart detection with customized zone with its Arlo Secure plan to unlock these smart features. Without secure plan, Arlo can only give you standard motion detection.

Subscription Plan:

The Arlo Secure plan is a subscription-based service that unlocks advanced features, including smart motion detection, cloud storage, and more. In contrast, Reolink may provide some smart detection capabilities without the need for a subscription, offering additional value for users who prefer not to commit to ongoing costs.
