Foscam R4 Vs Amcrest IP3M-941
Like Foscam, Amcrest doesn’t want to be left behind. Amcrest offers various new models of home and business class security cameras and one of them is Amcrest IP3M-941. Amcrest IP3M-941 is supposed to be the successor for Amcrest IP2M-841 and the main difference is that IP3M-941 is 3MP resolution compared with only 2.1MP resolution for IP2M-841.
Now take a look at the following spec comparison table between Foscam R4 and Amcrest IP3M-941.
Both cameras are designed with fixed lens with the same 4.0 mm focal length, and Amcrest comes with Sony CMOS sensor. Foscam R4 offers higher resolution than Amcrest, and is also higher frame rate per second (25fps) than Amcrest (20fps). Wireless PTZ camera for indoor is more than enough, you can cover larger area to monitor with sharper image detail.
For outdoor camera with large area to cover, you may consider high resolution outdoor PTZ cameras such as 5MP USG outdoor PTZ camera, it’s a PTZ high speed dome model and is ideal hang down on the tower to cover larger area such as parking area or airports.
Panning and Tilting
Both Foscam R4 and Amcrest IP3M-941 are designed with the same desktop model, you need to put the camera on the shelf or on the table. Both cameras support the capability of panning horizontally and tilting vertically. Amcrest supports panning horizontal capability endless 360 degree as opposed only 300 degree with R4. However, with panning up to 300 degree capability is more than enough when you place the camera on the corner of the room.
The other main difference between the two models is the built-in wifi adapter. Foscam come with single 2.4Ghz band based on wireless 802.11b/g/n standard. On the other hand, Amcrest comes with dual band feature either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band based on wireless 802.11a/b/g/n standard.
Today, high speed wireless routers are designed based on wireless ac dual band technology and even high end wireless routers come with three band technology. So that’s why wireless PTZ camera with dual band feature should be better when connect to cleaner 5Ghz band if your existing wireless router supports dual or three band.
Both cameras support remote view with free mobile apps. Foscam with P2P technology is the easiest way to configure remote viewing without the complication of router configuration at home. Amcrest is similar with QR code scanning using the mobile app.
