Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight camera is one of best floodlight cameras in the market with higher resolution and auto motion tracking and zooming. How good Arlo pro floodlight camera is compared with Ring floodlight camera pro?
Most popular Arlo floodlight camera
Previously, Arlo was a pioneer in wire-free cameras, and then followed by similar wire-free products from few vendors and Arlo is still favorite; however in general Arlo is still more expensive compared to others. And today you can find Arlo releases arlo floodlight camera products, and its flagship product is Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight camera.
What Arlo floodlight camera does?
The Arlo Floodlight Camera is one of popular outdoor security cameras offered by Arlo Technologies. It features a robust and weather-resistant design, suitable for outdoor installations. It integrates a bright LED floodlight along with the camera, providing enhanced visibility and security. The camera is typically mounted on an adjustable bracket, allowing you to position it for optimal coverage.
2k with 12x digital zoom
Ring is also very popular with floodlight camera products and so far its products are still come with 1080p resolution. Probably for this reason, Arlo releases a similar product and immediately outperformed Ring with twice resolution as high as Ring.

With 2k resolution Arlo pro 3 Floodlight camera provides twice as much detail as images and videos displayed by other cameras with 1080p resolution. In addition, Arlo is also featured with 12x digital zoom. Of course the results from the digital zoom are not as sharp as the optical zoom, especially night vision. However, today’s digital zoom technology is much better in some cameras and Arlo does the digital zoom very good.
The best thing with Arlo floodlight camera that other competing products absent is the automatic tracking and zoom the object when there is motion detection.

Both Ring models are designed with the same 1080p resolution, including other specs except for a few additional features applied to the wired pro one.
Bird’s eye
When there is motion detection, besides the usual live view on your mobile screen, it also appears bird’s eye view such as vertical area impressions and traces of people entering your customized zone detection.
Ring claims that the bird’s eye view is the first technology introduced by Ring that is applied to floodlight cameras. This feature is also introduced to new Ring doorbell product. See also the Ring doorbell vs Arlo comparison.
The second difference is the enhancement of audio that comes with advanced noise cancellation. The last difference is the dual band wifi that will be explained later in comparison with Arlo.
Arlo Pro vs Ring floodlight cameras
Table 2 below presents you head to head specs and features comparison table between Arlo pro 3 and Ring wired pro floodlight cameras.
Camera resolution
To provide sharper image and video sharpness, make sure to choose floodlight camera with higher resolution, especially if you expect to sustain good quality image when zoom in the object closer.
Both Arlo pro and ring floodlight cameras are enriched with an HDR feature to provide correction of both dark and bright light conditions in a frame to produce balance images. However, the Arlo pro 3 with 4mp (2k) resolution provides resolution that is twice as high as the Ring wired pro which is only 1080p (2mp). In terms of camera resolution, Arlo is superior to Ring.

Auto track and zoom
One other advantage that Arlo pro demonstrates is the auto tracking capability when the camera detects the movement of person approaching the zone detection. And not just auto tracking the person, the camera also gives an auto zoom response to the person to look closer and clearer. Ring wired pro doesn’t have this feature.
Floodlights
Both Arlo pro and Ring floodlight cams provide the same 2000 lumen brightness illuminator. The brighter floodlight is better. However with Arlo, you can increase the brightness level up to 3000 lumens by installing outdoor magnetic charging. For floodlight brightness Arlo beats Ring.
Bird’s eye
Ring provides a 3d motion detection feature by using a kind of radar technology that allows the Ring wired Pro camera to display such kind of small map of the area of each motion detection on your mobile in a live view screen, a small map image inside the video. This can provide a tracking trace from which direction the person entered your zone detection.
This bird’s eye is a unique feature that other floodlight cameras don’t have.
Dual band wifi
Another better feature offered by Ring wired pro is the dual band 802.11b/g/n/ac built-in wifi adapter. Even though the latest wifi technology 802.11ax (wifi 6) router is already in place, both Arlo pro and Ring floodlight cams still backward compatible to connect. However, with dual band support Ring can connect to cleaner @5GHz radio band instead of @2.4GHz radio band which is prone to signal interference.
