Popular 32 Channel DVR / NVR Systems Which One Meets Your Business

Are you feeling perplexed and uncertain about which 32-channel DVR / NVR system to select for deploying a robust and reliable surveillance system that caters to your business needs?

In this article:

32 Channel DVR / NVR

A 32 channel DVR / NVR system is ideal for businesses that require a large number of cameras to monitor their premises, such as retail stores, warehouses, mining projects, or office buildings. By having a 32 channel DVR / NVR system, businesses can easily monitor and record footage from multiple cameras simultaneously, ensuring that they have a comprehensive view of their premises at all times. Additionally, a 32 channel NVR system can help businesses improve their security measures, deter theft and vandalism, and provide evidence in case of an incident or accident.

DVR or NVR System

Which one is ideal for your business, NVR or DVR system? Are there any difference between DVR and NVR system?

DVR (Digital Video Recorder) system is older technology that is commonly used for analog CCTV cameras. It is usually designed to work with coaxial cables and can record and store footage on an internal hard drive. The video is compressed and stored in a proprietary format. DVR systems typically have a limited number of channels and can support only a few cameras.

NVR (Network Video Recorder) systems, on the other hand, are designed to work with IP cameras and use network cables to transmit and store video footage. The video is typically stored in a standard format such as H.264 or H.265. NVR systems can support many more cameras than DVR systems and have the ability to manage and view footage remotely using a web browser or mobile app. They also offer more advanced features like motion detection, object tracking, and facial recognition.

Overall, NVR systems offer more flexibility, scalability, and advanced features compared to DVR systems. However, DVR systems may still be a cost-effective solution for smaller businesses or those with legacy analog cameras. It’s important to consider your specific needs and budget when choosing between the two systems.

Despite the prevalence of DVR and NVR systems, there is a common misconception among many people regarding their key differences. Often, people mistakenly use the term “DVR system” when they are actually referring to an NVR system. To avoid this confusion, we use the term “DVR or NVR system with 32 channels” interchangeably to specifically refer to a 32-channel NVR system.

Buyers Guide

To help you find the ideal 32-channel DVR system that perfectly suits your business needs, it’s important to consider a few key factors. What exactly do you need to know when selecting the best 32-channel DVR? Let’s take a closer look.

Compatibility:

Make sure the system is compatible with your cameras and the type of video signal they produce (analog or digital). Some systems are only compatible with certain camera models or brands. Make sure you select the DVR / NVR system that supports ONVIF standards.

ONVIF

ONVIF stands for Open Network Video Interface Forum, which is a global standard for network video products, including IP-based cameras. An ONVIF camera is one that conforms to the ONVIF standard and can be easily integrated with other ONVIF-compliant devices and software. This standard defines a common protocol for communication between IP-based security devices, such as cameras, video recorders, and other surveillance equipment.

An ONVIF camera offers several advantages, such as interoperability with other ONVIF-compliant devices, easy integration with various video management software and network video recorders, and a reduced risk of vendor lock-in. This means that users can choose from a wide range of compatible products and avoid being restricted to a single manufacturer’s equipment.

H.264 / H.265

To minimize the use of network bandwidth, you may also consider the video compression format to support, H.264 or H.265. Both dvr and the camera should support this compression format.

H.264 and H.265 are video compression standards that are widely used for digital video cameras, including security cameras. It provides high-quality video compression while minimizing the amount of network bandwidth required for transmission. The main difference between the two is that H.265 provides better compression efficiency than H.264, which means it can transmit the same quality video using less bandwidth, or transmit higher quality video using the same bandwidth.

Recording Capacity:

Consider the amount of storage space the system offers. A 32 channel DVR / NVR system should have enough storage to handle multiple cameras recording at the same time. Look for a system that supports multiple hard drives, so you can add more storage as needed. In enterprise level storage, you should select the recording system that supports Raid system, Raid 0/1/5/10 which is ideal for large scale of businesses.

Resolution:

Consider the resolution of the DVR / NVR you’ll be using with the system. Make sure the system can handle the highest resolution of your cameras for optimal video quality. Selecting the 32 channel DVR / NVR that supports up to 4K resolution is appropriate for most businesses.

Smart Features

While many security cameras offer motion detection, it may not always be sufficient for your business needs. For example, you may require more precise detection, such as human and vehicle detection, to reduce false alarms. In a security system that incorporates AI (artificial intelligence) technology, cameras not only detect motion but also recognize faces, which can be compared to a face database to make informed decisions about alerts.

Remote Access:

Look for a system that offers remote access so you can view the video feed from your cameras on your Smartphone or computer. Make sure the remote access is easy to set up and use. The most common protocol used for remote access is P2P. With P2P protocol, you can manage the cameras remotely via your Smartphone when you are on the go.

P2P (peer-to-peer) is a networking technology that allows devices to communicate with each other directly, without the need for a central server or infrastructure. In the context of security cameras, P2P technology is often used to enable remote access to the camera’s live stream and recorded footage without the need for complicated network configurations or port forwarding.

P2P technology works by creating a direct connection between the camera and the user’s device, such as a Smartphone or computer, using a unique ID or code. This eliminates the need for the user to know the camera’s IP address or to configure their network settings to access the camera remotely.

Brand Reputation:

Look for reputable brands in the security industry. Brands like Hikvision, Dahua, Lorex, Swann, and Reolink are known for their quality and reliability in the market.

Price:

Consider your budget when selecting a 32 channel DVR / NVR system. While more expensive systems may have more features, you may not need all of those features for your security needs. Be sure to read reviews and compare features to find the best option for your needs. It’s also a good idea to consult with a security professional to ensure you’re getting a system that meets your specific security needs.

Dahua 32 channel NVR

For very critical data needs such as data video footage at high security area such as in gold metal processing plant, Dahua provides storage redundancy solutions with support for RAID 0/1/5/10 hard disks configuration.

RAID 0 is block striped, no mirror, no parity RAID for excellent performance but it is not good for high critical storage system. RAID 1 is mirror system, no strippe and no parity, it is a good performance with excellent redundancy. RAID 5 is block stripped and distributed parity, good performance and redundancy.

7. Dahua N52B5P

Dahua introduces e-POE technology that allows data transmission from security camera to the recorder unit (NVR) as far as 800m (2524 ft), further than analog DVR systems that use coaxial cable that can only run up to 500m. This e-POE allows you transmit data and power over long distance Ethernet or coaxial cable.

Dahua 32 Channels with e-POE technology

E-POE technology is ideal for the needs of a very broad industry such as in a large factory area, mining industry, marine projects or airports. Of course both NVR system and the security camera must support this e-POE technology. One of the reorder units that supports this epoe technology is the Dahua n52b5p which supports security cameras with resolutions up to 4k.

Highlights
  • Up to 4k resolution and supports H.265+ / H.264+ dual codecs
