Including the ability of the camera to provide color images and color footage at night with longer distance range.

The advantage of this product is also designed with motorized zoom lens with focal length range of 2.7 ~ 12mm providing 4x optical zoom. You can aim at a target by zooming in at any focal length to produce very sharp image quality with the ability of the auto-focus feature of this camera.

Not many cameras are equipped with auto-focus feature except cameras with varifocal lenses with motorized zoom. The Hikvision DS-2CD2385FWD-I that we will compare with Lorex product here is not equipped with varifocal lens with auto-focus.

Night vision

What deserves a thumbs up with this product is the ability to record and view at night with a range of up to 250ft and not just recording in black and white images like most cameras with night vision features, but color night vision as long as there is still ambient light within the frame, the more light the better for color vision. The more light the better the quality of the color image at night and the more far-reaching with the addition of a high powered IR LEDs on the camera.

Lorex nocturnal series come with Color Night Vision (CNV) technology for color night vision with ambient light.

The first difference is the lens. Lorex offers varifocal lens with adjustable focal lengths with motorized zoom. Lorex also complements this camera with a high-quality CMOS image sensor from Sony Exmor R™.

Fixed lenses can produce very sharp image quality but can only provide a single field of view, unlike a camera with a varifocal lens which focal length is adjustable to suit your need of viewing angles and can be adjusted through your monitor or smart phone.

Night vision

It has been discussed above that Lorex has an advantage in color night vision with CNV technology as long as there is still an ambient light and a long distance range of up to 250ft. while Hikvision only provides a range of up to 100 ft and not color.
