Wyze introduced its ultimate Wyze floodlight cam pro with three floodlights covering cinematic 180 degree field of view angle. How this product will compete with popular Arlo and Eufy floodlight cameras?
Wyze Floodlight Cam Pro vs Arlo
Wyze Cam is a brand of affordable home security cameras developed by Wyze Labs. They offer a range of camera models that are known for their budget-friendly pricing and decent performance. Wyze Cams typically have a compact and sleek design. They are small in size, allowing for easy placement on shelves, walls, or other surfaces. The cameras are designed to be used indoors, but there are also weatherproof models available for outdoor use including this new release Wyze floodlight cam pro.
2.5K QHD resolution
Updating from its previous version that comes with only 1080p resolution, this new wyze floodlight cam pro comes with wider image up to 2.5 quad HD resolution; same as popular Arlo floodlight cameras. It is tagged with lower price point that popular Arlo, Wyze will likely to take market share of Arlo. Moreover, wyze offers brighter floodlight and no cloud storage subscription to store footages.
Please note that Reolink introduced its debut in Floodlight cameras with two options of connectivity, the dual band wifi and the POE models. Moreover, they come with dual lens with 4K resolution. Check here Reolink 4K floodlight camera.

3x Floodlights
Previously Wyze offers the lighter version of floodlight cameras that comes with two left and right floodlights deliver the bright light up to 2,600 lumens and comes with 1080p resolution. The view angle is only 130 degree diagonal view angle.
The Wyze floodlight cam pro offers a wider coverage angle of 180 degrees, thanks to its three floodlight units, so it covers a wider area to be illuminated by the floodlights. You can compare to Arlo’s floodlight camera which covers up to a 160-degree coverage, narrower than Wyze.
Additionally, the Wyze Cam floodlight camera provides a higher brightness level of 3000 lumens with 5,000K color temperature, while Arlo’s floodlight camera has a brightness rating of 2000 lumens and 4000K color temperature. However, with Arlo you can use outdoor magnetic cable to increase the floodlight brightness up to 3000 lumens.
These differences in coverage and brightness should be considered when choosing between the two cameras, as they can impact the overall effectiveness and illumination of your outdoor space.
Wyze with 5000K tends to produce a cooler or bluish-white light. This color temperature is often associated with daylight and can provide a more crisp and vibrant illumination, making it popular for outdoor security lighting. As with Arlo that comes with 4000K color temperature, tends to produce a warmer or slightly yellowish light. This color temperature is often associated with incandescent or halogen bulbs and can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Local memory storage
Wyze Cam supports local micro SD card slot, allowing you to insert a compatible memory card of up to 256GB. This enables you to locally store recorded videos and access them directly from the camera without relying on cloud storage. The advantage of local storage is that it provides immediate access to the footage without the need for an internet connection. It also eliminates any ongoing subscription fees associated with cloud storage plans.
On the other hand, Arlo cameras do not have built-in local memory storage options like a micro SD card slot. Instead, Arlo offers cloud storage as the primary method for storing recorded videos. With an Arlo subscription plan, you can upload your camera footage to the Arlo cloud and access it remotely through the Arlo app or web portal. The cloud storage allows for convenient access to your video recordings from anywhere with an internet connection.
The advantage of Arlo’s cloud storage is that it offers off-site backup for your video footage, providing an extra layer of security in case the camera is damaged or stolen. It also allows for long-term storage of videos without worrying about running out of local storage space. However, it’s important to note that using cloud storage typically involves a subscription fee, which can vary depending on the storage plan you choose.

Dual band wifi
The advantage of having dual-band Wi-Fi, as offered by Wyze Cam, compared to single-band Wi-Fi, like some Arlo cameras, lies in providing more flexibility and potentially better performance for your wireless network. Wyze comes with dual band either 5GHz or 2.5GHz band.
The 2.4 GHz band has a longer range and better penetration through walls and obstacles, while the 5 GHz band offers faster speeds but with a shorter range. By having both options available, you can choose the frequency band that best suits your specific needs.
The 2.4 GHz band used by single-band Wi-Fi devices can be susceptible to interference from other devices like microwaves, cordless phones, and Bluetooth devices. With dual-band Wi-Fi, you can utilize the less crowded 5 GHz band, which is typically less prone to interference, resulting in potentially more stable and reliable connections.
Today, most wifi 6 routers or mesh wifi 6 / wifi 6e systems come with dual or three radio bands. So with wifi 6 or wifi 6e network environment in home, you can utilize 5GHz band for faster and cleaner radio band for your camera’s connection.
Power Options
Wyze Cam typically operates using wired AC power, including this floodlight cam pro. So you have to position the camera near the an electrical outlet, this will provide continuous power supply so you don’t need to worry about battery life or recharging, ensuring uninterrupted operation as long as there is a power source.
Arlo on the other hand offers you three power options, including AC power, battery power, and solar power. In addition of AC power like Wyze, you can use the included rechargeable battery power, and optional solar panel for sustainable energy. This option is beneficial in situations where it’s challenging to access an electrical outlet or replace batteries frequently.
Wired AC power, as offered by Wyze Cam, ensures continuous power supply without the need for battery management. Arlo cameras, on the other hand, provide options for various scenarios, including areas without access to power outlets or the desire for eco-friendly solar-powered operation.
Affordable Options
One of the standout aspects of Wyze Cam is its affordability. Compared to other popular models like Arlo and Google Nest, Wyze Cams are considerably cheaper including this new release of Wyze floodlight cam pro. They are positioned as budget-friendly options while still providing essential security features.
The price of Arlo Floodlight Cameras generally falls within the mid to high range of outdoor security cameras. They tend to be more expensive compared to budget-friendly options like Wyze Cam but offer additional features and higher build quality. The exact price may vary depending on the specific model, any bundled accessories, and additional features provided.
