TP-link adds new lines of indoor security camera for homes, Kasa Spot indoor cameras and Kasa Spot Pan Tilt cameras. How these new series will compete with Reolink E1 series?
Kasa Spot Indoor
In addition of its wire-free model cameras such as Kasa kc300s2 wire-free cameras, and the newer model is Kasa kc310s2, TP-link also introduces Kasa Spot indoor camera series. There are two types of new lines of Kasa Spot indoor security camera introduced by TP-link:
- Kasa Spot cameras that consist of two models: KC400 and EX60
- Kasa Spot Pan Tilt cameras with panning and tilting capabilities that consist of two models KC410s and EX70
What wonders me is that TP-link releases up to 4 different models of Kasa Spot camera where each model differs in price by around $10 where the main difference is the recording resolution. Actually with two models of Kasa security camera with and without PT (pan and tilt) feature with 4mp resolution should be appropriate, no need for models that come with full HD 1080p resolution. Probably it’s their business strategy, who knows.
Kasa comparisons
Are there any other differences between each of these Kasa Spot cameras? Look at the two comparison tables below. Table 1 shows the spec comparison between Kasa KC400 and Kasa ec60 while table 2 is a spec comparison between Kasa kc410s and Kasa ec70.

Resolution & wifi
See that the main difference between Kasa Spot kc400 and Kasa Spot ec60 is the recording resolution. On the other hand, the main differences for spec comparison between Kasa Spot kc410s and ec70 are the recording resolution and built-in wifi adapter. See that all the four models of Kasa Spot come with built-in wifi with single band, if you compare with Reolink e1 pro and e1 zoom you can find that these Reolink cameras come with dual band wifi (@2.4GHz or 5GHz).

Kasa Spot vs Reolink e1
Take a look at the following table 4 below; see that the price difference is not too much. So what makes the difference between the two models?

Faster fps
The recording resolution between the two models is the same (2k / 4MP); however there is a slight difference in frame rate. The faster frame rate the smoother the video performs, @30 fps (frame per second) is the real time frame rate. Reolink e1 pro supports up to 4MP @20 fps, while Kasa supports up to 4MP @15fps.
Local memory storage
In addition to the Kasa care cloud storage subscription option, Kasa spot is equipped with micro sd card memory slot with capacity of up to 256Gb, compared to Reolink which is only 64gb. If you already have Reolink nvr with multiple cameras, you can store the e1 video footage in the nvr system.
Alerts
Besides motion detection by sending video snapshot alerts to mobile devices, Kasa also performs motion tracking. Reolink does not provide tracking feature, but there is siren option with a custom sound, it can be auto siren or manually via your mobile.
