Vtech baby monitor series

Vtech offers two types of baby monitor, the wifi baby monitor (RM series) that allows you to connect with your baby monitor anywhere even you are on the go. And the second model is the local baby monitor (VM series) you can connect up to the limited distance within your home.

Secure connection?

With the RM series, your baby monitor can connect to your existing wifi internet network in home and allows you to connect the camera anywhere remotely while you are on the go.

Because with capability of connecting to the internet, your video crosses a public network that is vulnerable to being tapped, how this baby monitor is secured? Of course it is guaranteed to be secured considering that it is encrypted with AES 128-bit which ensures the signal between the camera and your mobile device is private and safe. One of these

With the VM series, your baby monitor works locally within homes, no internet connection so you cannot access the camera when you are on the go. This Vtech vm series is similar as those Infant Optics baby monitor series, no internet access. One of Vtech VM series products is VM919HD that we will compare with Infant Optics dxr-8 pro.

Infant Optics dxr-8 Pro vs Vtech VM919

Vtech VM919 baby monitor

Lens

With dxr-8 pro you need to change the different lens for zoom and wide angle view, you have to purchase separate zoom lens (2x optical zoom and 3x digital zoom). With 2x optical zoom you have very sharp image in opposed to digital zoom which is done by software that is prone to noise result.

With Vtech VM919 you don’t need to change different lens for (digital) zoom and wide angle view you can control from the parent unit.

PTZ

The VM919 provides left-right panning capabilities of up to 270 degrees plus a 110-degree view angle lens that is almost endless 360 degrees panoramic view compared to the drx-8 pro. However, this 360 degree panning ability is not very influential considering the need for a panoramic view is not so critical because it focuses on the baby view in the crib.

Screen size

Although the screen and camera resolution is the same as HD 720p, the Vetch provides larger screen’s size (7″) compared to infant optics which is only 5″. If the maximum number of cameras is up to 4 camera units, then a wider screen is more convenience with 4 split screen.
